Final Magazine covers

1st Cover

This is my third magazine cover attempt of my model Abbie. I decided to change the cover again due to the masthead and plugs being either irrelevant or in a unsuitable font, by this point I had made the image into a jpg file and couldn't edit so I began again, creating this new cover. I began designing the masthead in a more classical, sophisticated style to make the magazine appear less childlike. I then removed the 'catch the fashion  bug' slogan from my previous one and made it into a plain slightly italicised font as to again, make it less childlike and appeal to my audiences pleasures more. For the overall colour of the magazine I wanted to have two main colour schemes, dark blue and a slightly lighter version, this would allow me to create a stylised cover which looks mature and professional. I created a banner with a win a holiday competition in the bottom to attract the younger, poorer than other social groups to the magazine as it allows them to achieve otherwise unforeseeable holidays. I added a barcode to the bottom left to make it look more like a magazine that would be on sale on the shop floor. About this I have put the date of the issue in a bold, white font so that it stands out and allows the viewer to easily see what the date and issue number is. In terms of the plugs, I used a white serif font to make it look more sophisticated whilst informing the viewer, they have been tailored more towards the Christmas theme. The titles for the plugs that contain fashion shall alternate between the colours and fonts of the masthead, however the title that doesn't contain fashion shall remain the colour of 'fever' throughout. I reused the cover image because I felt that the image had a professional look and represented the genre of low end fashion well.

2nd cover

This is my second magazine cover attempt for Maya. I used the same colour scheme, fonts and layout for this as my cover or Abbie in  order to maintain synergy. I used photoshop to completely remake the background as it had too much detail and wasn't a solid colour like other magazines I had researched and analysed, specifically the males fashion magazine. I used photoshop to create the background and then edit Maya to be on top of it so that she is the most prominent on the cover. I kept the thought bubbles but repositioned them to make room for the masthead. In this magazine cover, all of the plugs were related to the Jewish theme, including festivals. In this cover I have put win a trip to the Tower of David in order to try and promote the learning of  other cultures and religions.

Both of these front covers work much better than my previous attempts because it addresses the audiences pleasures and needs much more than my others, whilst creating much more synergy between the two and addressing my target audience more effectively. For this reason I shall be using these as my final front covers.
