Font Planning

In this blog post i shall be looking at different fonts to decide which one is suitable for my magazine covers. To make an accurate decision i shall be using the same font size and only changing the font type so that i can compare each font fairly. I shall be using word to make each title in the size 26 and then deciding which one is the best on this blog.

Font 1 - Impact

Fashion Fever

Font 2 - Ravie

Fashion Fever

Font 3 - Garamond
Fashion Fever
Font 4 - Vladimir Script

Fashion Fever
Font 5 - Modern No. 20
Fashion Fever
Font 6 - Gill Sans MT

Fashion Fever
Font 7 - Franklin Gothic Heavy
Fashion Fever
Font 8 - Britannic Bold
Fashion Fever
Font 9 - Castellar
Fashion Fever
Font 10 -MV Boli

Fashion Fever

From my research into the different fonts, I think that for the masthead of the magazine I shall combine both Garamond and Modern No. 20 to create a nice blend of maturity and sophistication. Having both fonts similar but with one bolder allows for a nice and mature masthead which will be perfect for my 16-25 year old target audience due to its classy nature. The font for the contents pages shall be Gill Sans MT due to its thin but bold sizing that makes it elegant but visible on the contents page. This is important to the viewer because it allows them to view the writing easily whilst allowing for a vast amount of text to fit onto the page. For some titles within the magazines I shall use the Franklin Gothic Heavy font to make it stand out amongst the smaller, thinner fonts, allowing the viewer to instantly see the most important items on the page.
